Calthorpe
Allstars started in April 2003 with around six girls and we
now have around 20 on the cheer team and about 20
recreational. The group was started as a girl group mainly
because there was not many activities for girls who wanted to
be girls but athletic as well and gives them the opportunity
to compete. This is not only a sport but builds skills like
team building and confidence. It also gave the youths a place
to use their time constructively and set new goals while
instilling pride and something to look forward too. We also
have alternates who have the opportunity to perform with squad
and are given the opportunity to try out.We are not only a
girls team but have a co ed team we have young men to help us
with the stunting and tumbling. We encourage every one to give
it a try as we have a recreational team who do it just for
fun.
We have also started in January 2005 the Mighty Maidens Dance
team. We do Pom dance and Hip Hop we have competed at Future
Cheer Regionals and Internationals since 2005.
